Join us for our 2024 annual Post-Budget Analysis Breakfast in Auckland as we discuss what the Budget 2024 allocations mean for the infrastructure sector.

The key goals for Budget 2024 include; strengthening the economy, enhancing public services, and restoring fiscal discipline. Budget 2024 priorities focus on reducing taxes without increasing debt, improving public services, strictly maintaining budget control, and planning sustainable infrastructure investments. These events will feature a panel discussion to discuss how the infrastructure sector will be impacted by the announced funding.

We will be running two breakfast events, sponsored by Russell McVeagh. Our Wellington event is on Friday 31 May from 7:30-9:30am at the Wellington Club, followed by our Auckland event on 5 June from 7:30-9:30am at the Russell McVeagh Auckland office. Our Auckland event will also be recorded.

Presenter Details

Brad Olsen - Chief Executive, Infometrics

Susan Lucking - Head of Infrastructure, Government & Specialised Finance, Bank of New Zealand

Susan leads BNZ’s Infrastructure, Energy, Utilities and Government sector strategies and relationship banking teams for BNZ’s largest clients in these sectors, and also leads BNZ’s Project Finance team that specialises in infrastructure, renewable energy and social & urban housing development. She has 14+ years of banking experience across various sectors, including Project Finance, Corporate Finance and Property Finance.

With a background in project financing of PPP’s and other infrastructure and renewable energy projects, Susan is passionate about Infrastructure and what it can deliver for NZ; enabling economic growth, increased productivity and wellbeing, and climate change mitigation. Susan also has a strong appreciation for the significant challenges that need to be overcome to enable the growth and address infrastructure resilience for future generations.

David Norman - Chief Economist, GHD

David Norman is Chief Economist for Australia and New Zealand at GHD, studying and commenting on New Zealand’s infrastructure challenges and ways to overcome them.

Immediately prior to his present role, David spent 4.5 years as Chief Economist at Auckland Council, providing independent, contestable economic advice to elected members and senior staff.

Most of his economics career has been in the private sector, including a boutique Economics consultancy, PwC and Westpac. He has also worked at the Building Research Association of NZ (BRANZ), giving him greater insights into the challenges faced by the construction and infrastructure industries.

David spent seven years working in Taiwan and China before embarking on his economics career. He has a B.A. in Economics and Mandarin Chinese, a B.Sc. in Psychology and Genetics, a Post-graduate diploma in Business Administration, and a Masters in Theological Studies.
